Q1 of 2018 off to a strong start for First4Lawyers

As we make our way into March, the first quarter of our 2018 media campaign got off to a strong start.

We were barely into the New Year when the results of our annual PI survey, run at the end of 2017, were published in The Law Society Gazette, Claims, Insurance Times, and Legal Futures with a commissioned article examining the results appearing in PIBULJ.com.

Later in January, we issued comment from Qamar in response to the news that insurance premiums for drivers remain high, despite a dip in the last three months of 2017. This was picked up by Claims.

Later that week, Justice Minister Lord Keen told the Justice Select Committee that claims management companies could be an alternative to solicitors in assisting people with bringing their cases after the government raises the small claims limit for personal injury cases.

A comment piece was published in The Times Brief from Qamar explaining why this was a bad idea. He also discussed the government’s recent u-turn in favour of banning cold-calling in personal injury, a move that First4Lawyers strongly supports.

In early February a blog was published in Claims looking at how artificial intelligence could herald a significant change in legal practice, but only if firms embrace its potential.

Later in the month, Legal Futures and Claims picked up Qamar’s comments on the news that the government plans to introduce its whiplash reforms in April 2019.

We also attended the Claims conference on 28 February and it was great to see many of you there.
